How many times have you wanted to try out something new in beauty but had no idea what to get? It happens all too often, especially with how many choices and brands are available. It’s all too easy to get sucked down the rabbit hole of options, even when it comes to something as simple as lipstick!
Enter the beauty subscription boxes. They take the hard work out of discovering new products, shipping them to your doorstep each month. This is perfect for those looking to explore more options in skincare and makeup, and you won’t have to spend hours looking through your local Sephora store anymore.
Kinder Beauty is one monthly subscription service that can help with your never-ending search for a new favorite product. They were founded much more recently than Birchbox and Ipsy, so you might not have heard much about them yet. However, we’ll cover all there is to know about Kinder Beauty, from the exclusively vegan and clean contents of the box to the values of the company!
What Is Kinder Beauty?
Just like any other subscription service, Kinder Beauty can send you a monthly delivery of beauty and skincare goodies, packaged up neatly in one of their environmentally friendly boxes. They’re a little different from other boxes since they’ll only consider products that are 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and clean.
Founded by Daniella Monet and Evanna Lynch, these two activists are working to make clean beauty accessible and affordable to everyone. Both are animal rights activists and have been vegan for a long time. As a result, all products through a strict vetting process to guarantee they’re cruelty-free. They’re trying to “make the world a kinder place for animals, for people, and for the planet” – hence the name.
After all, looking for cruelty-free beauty products can become difficult, especially when companies are vague on how their products are made. With Kinder Beauty, you’ll know for sure that all the products you’re using are ethical.
In addition, a portion of all proceeds goes to animal rights and environmental cause charities each month. They’ve previously worked with the ASPCA, Farm Sanctuary, and other organizations too.
What Is in a Kinder Beauty Box?
All beauty boxes come with more than $75 worth of products, covering skincare, makeup, hair care, and body care. Every product is carefully selected and won’t contain parabens, sulfates, or PEGs.
This is a huge improvement when compared to other beauty boxes since they’re looking at each product individually to make sure it meets their standards. The founders carefully curate each box to make sure all their subscribers have something they like. And unlike Birchbox and Ipsy, you have the option for a refund if you aren’t satisfied with your beauty box.
The boxes themselves are made from 100% recycled materials that are biodegradable and compostable. In addition, all packing materials used in the box are also made from recycled materials. The ink used for their logos and designs is soy-based as well to keep it earth-friendly. All of these factors easily make Kinder Beauty one of the most ethical beauty box choices available!
However, while they do promise at least $75 worth of products, they don’t give a number for how many products you may get monthly. This means that you might have 5 or 6 products to try out one month, and only 4 items to try out the next month.
When you sign up for Kinder Beauty, the first box you receive is also different from the box that seasoned monthly subscribers will receive. This box is called “Kinder Favorites,” and it contains several fan-favorite products from past months. This way, you won’t miss out on the best parts of Kinder Beauty!
Brands
Kinder Beauty only works with brands that specialize in vegan, cruelty-free products. This includes brands such as 100% Pure, EVIO, Little Moon Essentials, and more! They’re also constantly looking for new clean beauty companies to partner with, so you’ll end up seeing a wide assortment of brands and products in your monthly boxes.
Kinder Beauty Bonuses and Promotions
Kinder Beauty boxes start at $25 monthly, but the price goes down if you prepay for multiple months. If you purchase a 3-month plan, you’ll only be paying $24 a month. For an annual plan, you’ll be paying $23 a month.
In addition, with the 3-month plan and annual plan, you’ll be receiving a free bonus box as well! You can also use the code ‘KINDER10’ for 10% off on a new subscription plan.
Kinder Beauty Shop and Marketplace
Kinder Beauty also runs a monthly Marketplace that launches midway through the month. These sales feature special deals on clean beauty products, along with some products that have been featured in past boxes.
The Marketplace also features Add-On shops for you to get a few extra products with your next beauty box. Sometimes, you’ll even have the option to purchase past boxes through this shop. All purchases from the Marketplace come with free shipping if you spend over $25.
Where Can Kinder Boxes Be Shipped To?
Kinder Beauty ships internationally to dozens of countries, including Canada, the United Kingdom, and more! You can also find the full list of countries that they ship to here. While shipping is free in the US, it does cost $5.95 per box for international customers.
Boxes are usually shipped out by the 18th of the month for regular subscribers. If you first subscribe past the 13th of the month, your box will be shipped out within one week.
All boxes also come with a tracking number and could take up to 10 business days to be delivered to US customers. International packages can take up to 4 weeks depending on your location.
Managing a Kinder Subscription
Kinder Beauty subscriptions are more flexible than other choices since you can choose which months you want to receive the box. If you skip a month, you won’t be charged any extra money. You can also pause your subscription until you’ve used up your ever-growing beauty stash and resume it with a quick email to their support staff.
In addition, they have a full refund policy for boxes you don’t like! As long as all products inside the box are unused and unopened, you can ship them back for a full refund to your account. You’ll just need to email their support team to let them know.
Is Kinder Beauty Worth It?
Kinder Beauty specializes in a more niche area of the beauty community, doing their best to keep things on the eco-friendlier side. While you’ll be paying more for Kinder Beauty than you would with Birchbox or Ipsy, you also know that all products have been vetted and meeting Kinder’s cruelty-free standards.
Few subscription boxes that hold the same values as Kinder Beauty, and you’ll sleep in peace, knowing that your environmental footprint is lessened with this subscription service. The extra cost you pay goes into finding better cruelty-free beauty products for you!
One of the few downsides is that they don’t ship a product info card with the box itself. This is in an effort to reduce waste. If you want to see information on each item in your beauty box, you can go online to the Kinder Beauty website to see more information!
In addition, Kinder Beauty doesn’t offer any customization to your boxes. In months with variations of boxes, you’ll be unable to choose which one you receive. However, you may be able to purchase the variations that you don’t receive as an add-on with next month’s box!
Kinder Beauty also has a lacking store history when compared to seasoned beauty boxes, such as Birchbox or Ipsy. However, you can try out just one month of boxes by subscribing and canceling before your card gets charged again. If you receive the box and you don’t like it, you can even get a refund!
If you just want to get a taste of what Kinder Beauty has to offer, you can try some of their “one-off” boxes, such as the Spring Collection box or the Summer Collection box. These collections and beauty boxes are also very versatile, including some body care products in addition to the normal beauty products. But in the end, it’s all up to you and your taste in beauty products!
